Joe Sakic is a former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 20 seasons with the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche franchise. He is widely considered one of the best players of his generation and among the greatest players in NHL history. Sakic was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012 and his jersey number (19) was retired by the Avalanche in 2016.
